I really hoped I would be able to keep constant updates going all throughout the month. Looks like I’m gonna miss another one tonight. You wouldn’t think it’d be that hard to keep a small-time art blog updated on time, would you? But no, life keeps on getting in the way. :/ Sorry, folks. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Day 21. Yeah, decided to draw something anyway.
My friend and I talked about a lot of things. Among other things, one of the things she suggest I do was just to draw thing. Anything. Everything.
This may sound pretty straightforward, but for someone as methodical as me, too much freedom is almost cause for panic. It took me a while to stop freaking out about where to actually start.
So, in the end, I just drew. Started with a “version” of me. Then a box. Then the hand I was drawing with. It was all a bit rushed, I was tense as anything and just wanted an outlet. (If you look closely, thanks to the contrast altering, you can see where I sketched the pinky finger but forgot to “harden” the line like I did with the rest of the hand.)
Hopefully, this will get easier with time.
However, I’m going to put extra effort into tomorrow’s upload.
See you then.
Day 20.
Just another day of poses. Wasn’t really at the top of my game tonight, heh.
I’ve got a friend who draws a lot, and I’m going to ask her if she knows any more learning resources than just poses. Drawing poses is all very well and good, but I’m not learning many technical skills. And while I’m getting more comfortable with looking at the picture as a whole, and with drawing in general, I’m not actually getting any better at shapes etc. My heads and necks still look revolting.
Gotta keep mixing it up, keep myself from getting complacent.
Day 19.
I’m really good at missing updates, aren’t I? This one was thanks to a family emergency. Lots of fun right there, I would have done my update when I got home at 1AM this morning (an hour late is better than no update at all, right?) but I was exhausted.
Two new things today. One, used a very sharp HB pencil instead of my usual duller 2B pencil. Two, I drew one pose without a reference and went back to posemanics because I couldn’t think of any poses on my own. It was really quite awkward, heh.
Day 17.
Pardon my lack of updates, I’ve been sick and barely able to keep up with my regular routine, let alone draw.
The difference with today’s poses is that I didn’t use any references or timer. I just made ‘em up, drawing the first thing to come to mind.
Day 14.
Two weeks, eh? Maybe I’ll even make it to the end of the month.
Did more more flow-over-shapes focus. It’s definitely slower and messier than shapes, that’s for sure. But I’ll pick up on in eventually.
Day 13.
Not sure what’s up with the scanner tonight. I’ll have a look in the morning.
Tonight I did my poses as per the usual, but this time I placed emphasis on curves. If you look at my previous poses, there are a lot of rectangles and boxes and joints. I tried to use more “sweepy” strokes, focusing on the flow of the pose, rather than the shape.
